Featuring one of the largest and most diverse selections of wine by the glass in the country with incremental pour sizes and flights, this world-class wine experience located in the heart of Downtown Overland Park is a fun and accessible way for all to enjoy life's little indulgences.

Nowadays, it seems every time you open a menu, or even just your phone, there's a charcuterie board. While the wildly trendy spread of deli foods is more accessible, elaborate and awe-inspiring than ever before, Vintage '78 Wine Bar wants to bring it back to the basics�impeccable meats and cheeses.

This year, small is the new big, as restaurant and bar owners are opening tiny spaces that they hope will cost less but earn more. The smaller the space, the more personal the experience is for both the restaurant and the guest. The stories behind some of these new locations feels tied to a more emotional place than ever before, as chefs and bartenders are taking nothing for granted after what they have been though with the pandemic. Many are looking for opportunities for connection by creating culinary experiences that encourage one-on-one interaction either between guests or between the guest and the chef, bartender, or service professional.

Like fine wine, downtown Overland Park's food and drink scene continues to get better with time, and starting this fall, there will be a stylish new spot to pop a cork. Vintage '78 Wine Bar, from local hospitality veterans Michael Scherzberg and Megan Downes, will open in the retail space beneath The Vue apartments in downtown Overland Park. The two have been conspiring for some time to bring Kansas City a place priced to encourage the sampling of some exciting bottles of wine that will be sold by the ounce, half glass, full glass, or bottle, along with the perfect cheese or charcuterie plate. Weekends will feature a larger food menu with a few appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, and desserts to keep people swirling, sniffing, and sipping in their space all night long. With plans to offer creative wine flights and vertical tastings, along with meet the winemaker nights and wine-tasting classes, Vintage '78 promises to be an approachable spot with friendly service ready to help you discover a favorite new find.

They met in culinary school more than two decades ago and have since become as close as brothers. During their years working for others in the restaurant business, they tossed around ideas for their own operation. Now owner Michael Scherzberg and executive chef Kyle Ketchum plan to launch Vintage '78 Wine Bar in downtown Overland Park in January.
